Abstract
Background: Canalicular laceration, which is commonly regarded as an ocular emergency, is caused by trauma on the eyelids and in the periorbital area. Unrepaired tears or either repair without a stent can lead to watering, strictures, and disfigurement.

Aims and Objectives: To find out common causes of canalicular tears, the extent of damage, and also to check the patency of the canalicular pathway. The primary goal of this study was to investigate the role of a stent in canaliculi laceration repair.

Materials and Methods: A study of 25 patients with diagnosed canalicular tears was done. The study duration was 28 months. After diagnosing the canalicular tear and the extent of damage associated with it, patients were operated on with a minimonaka stent with lid tear repair. Post-treatment patients were assessed periodically for 6 months to check the canalicular patency.

Results: Canaliculi tear repair using a monocanalicular stent gives acceptable outcomes.

Conclusion: Microscopic canalicular reconstruction with a Mini-Monoka tube is a safe, reliable, and simple technique, and it results in excellent anatomical and functional outcomes.

Key words: Periorbital Area; Stricture; Reconstruction; Patency
