Abstract
Background: Vaccination against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is imperative now and vaccination strategies are facing a remarkable change based on geographical location. This study was planned to assess the knowledge, attitude, practice (KAP) and acceptability toward COVID-19 infection and vaccination among general population.

Aim and Objectives: The aim and objective of this study was to evaluate the KAP and acceptability toward severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (COVID-19) infection and COVID-19 vaccination among semi-urban population in Puducherry (Ariyur and Villianur).

Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted among the semi-urban general population (2345 participants) from November 2021 to April 2022. Descriptive statistics were performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences 28.0.V.

Results: Mean score of knowledge and attitude was 6.19 ± 2.0 and 8.09 ± 1.24, respectively. About 83% of the participants knew about the transmission route of COVID-19 infection. About 60.6% of the participants agreed to receive the vaccination without hesitation and 59.2% were afraid of side effects. About 96.1% followed the protective measures against COVID-19 and 69.7% believed that the COVID-19 vaccines will protect against infection.

Conclusion: Adequate knowledge and positive attitude toward COVID-19 vaccines was observed among general population. Adverse effects following vaccination are the most important factor for vaccine hesitancy. Improvement in knowledge and vaccine acceptance should be strengthened more with recurring health education program in the community.

Key words: Knowledge; Attitude; Practice; Acceptance; COVID-19 Vaccine
